My name is Tremechie “Tee” Evans. I was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi, and I am a devoted husband to LaShonda Evans and a proud father of two children, Tyler and Laila.
I was actively involved in sports throughout my youth and earned a full basketball scholarship, allowing me to continue competing at the collegiate level. I hold an Associate Degree from East Mississippi Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Belhaven University.
I’m the Founder of Getchecked4CRC. Our mission at Getchecked4CRC is to educate, empower, and mobilize African American communities across the southern United States to prioritize colorectal cancer screening.
My journey with colorectal cancer is part of a broader family history. My mother and grandfather were both diagnosed with colon cancer and passed away in 2020 and 2023, respectively. On October 7, 2025, I was hospitalized after experiencing a medical emergency and was subsequently diagnosed with a tumor in my upper colon. Following transfer to Medical City of Plano, the tumor was successfully removed, and biopsy results confirmed Advanced Stage II colon cancer. Based on clinical guidelines, my gastrointestinal care team recommended a course of 12 aggressive chemotherapy infusions, with my final treatment currently scheduled for May 18, 2026
